Getting to Know Bioheat® Fuel

As you may know, we have been delivering Bioheat fuel for some years now. Bioheat is a clean, green alternative to conventional No. 2 heating oil, and can actually produce fewer Green House Gas emissions than natural gas. Here are some basics.
- Bioheat is made by blending ultra-low-sulfur heating oil with biodiesel—a renewable energy resource produced in America that’s often made from the fatty acids found in soy, corn and other vegetable oils.
- Bioheat reduces greenhouse gas emissions significantly—by 52% to 86% with NO costly equipment conversions or modifications.
- Our fuel contains up to 20% biodiesel. Tests are underway to increase that percentage even more.
- The renewable biodiesel we use comes from recycled vegetable oils from right here in Massachusetts.
