Forecasters Predict Lower Prices for Heating Oil

Heating costs are trending down for Winter 2014.

Heating costs are expected to be significantly lower this winter, especially for anyone who relies on home heating oil, according to forecasts by the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Heating oil customers can expect to pay 15 percent less to heat their homes this winter than last year, and 24 percent less if the average temperature is 10 percent warmer than usual, the EIA reported in its annual “Winter Fuels Outlook” published in early October.

Either way, that can translate into a savings of at least several hundred dollars for customers of Needham Oil.

Last fall, home heating oil prices also started off lower than the year before, but the now-infamous polar vortex descended upon the area, putting Massachusetts, and much of the East Coast, into a record-breaking deep freeze. Demand caused heating fuels to climb to $4 a gallon or more.

At Needham Oil, your comfort is our top priority, and we’re happy to pass along any savings to you. You’re important to us!
